In 2018, Sierra Rutile Ltd. (SRL), Jackson and Devon Anderson (JADA) Technical Institute and the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) signed a development partnership to improve the skills and the employablity of young people through demand-driven and practice-oriented technical and vocational education and training (TVET) at JADA Technical Institute. The project is called ‘From Mines to Minds 2’.
To gain more practical experience, JADA is currently discussing collaboration opportunities with companies concerning internship programmes. On the 26th February 2020, as a demonstration of commitment to improving the skills of youths especially in the Bonthe and Moyamba districts, the CEO of SRL formally signed an internship Memorandum of Understanding with JADA for students studying mechanical or electrical technology. SRL will take on at least ten students for an internship per year.
Other companies that offer internships for JADA students in the mechanical or electrical department are Abimer Construction & General Supply and Uplink Construction & Civil Works. Interested companies can contact the management of JADA Technical Institute.
