Accreditation

Certification
The National Council for Technical Vocational and other Academic Awards has the mission to contribute towards the development of the country’s human resource capacity including educational services, capacity-building and training.
In order to receive your transcript from NCTVA, go to any branch of the Sierra Leone Commercial Bank and pay the sum of forty thousand Leones (Le 40,000.00), then bring the bank slip along with three (3) passport-size photos and your Statement of Results from your institution to the NCTVA and fill the application form.
NB: A graded transcript is sent only between institutions.
Yes, the certificates issued by NCTVA are nationally and internationally recognised.
Certificates are dispatched within three (3) months after the respective Statements of Results are made available.
The Statement of Results will be issued fourteen (14) days after applying subject to clearance from your institution. The Statement of Results will be valid for one year.
Examination
Examination results are published within three (3) months after completion of the examination period. For further details please visit NCTVA News.
In case of malpractice during examinations, the student will be investigated by a standing committee of the Council. If found guilty, the student will be liable to the following penalties:
1. Immediate cancellation of the student’s results.
2. The student will have to wait one (1) or two (2) years before getting the opportunity to re-take the exam(s).
Yes. All you need to do is to inform the Secretariat about your intentions. You will be directed to a centre nearest to your location to take the exams. Please note that for each and every subject you should:
a) Present your pay-in-slip and your institutional ID card.
b) Write “re-sit” on the front page of your booklet.
c) Quote the year of the first sitting and the institution to enable us to trace the other marks you obtained at the first sitting.
d) Indicate the examination number given to you at the time of the first sitting.
All examination results are published three (3) months after completion of the examination period. This may differ depending on the institutions and unforeseen circumstances.
Unfortunately, no. The NCTVA examinations are exclusively meant for candidates who are enrolled in TVET institutions that are accredited by the NCTVA.
Payment
Payment will be done via bank deposit, the option for mobile money is currently being discussed at the Council.
Unfortunately, no. Only candidates who made the payment beforehand are allowed to take the NCTVA certified exams.
No, candidates are not allowed to take the NCTVA Exams without making the necessary payment in full.
Report to the NCTVA Finance Office with your student identity card from your institution to confirm your name. The Finance clerk will check and confirm the name stated in the bank statement and issue a receipt.
This will be determined by Management and openly communicated to the public as soon as possible.
The examination fees for 2019 were three hundred seventy thousand Leones (Le 370,000.00). The examination fees for 2020 will be determined by the Council and openly communicated to the public as soon as possible.
Yes. Payment for NCTVA Exams has a deadline. At the expiration, candidates will have to pay a late fee of forty thousand Leones (Le 40,000.00).
The candidate has to write to NCTVA Finance and attach all related documents (bank and NCTVA receipts) and state reasons why he/she did not take the said exams. Having satisfied that requirement and with the approval of Management, a refund will be made to the student with a deduction of 10% from the fees paid as bank charge.
Write a letter to the NCTVA Finance Officer and attach the NCTVA official receipt addressed to you. However, you will only receive your money after the government has paid for SLG beneficiaries for the respective year.
